Early Years
Douglas Kinsley created Aviation Illustrations in 1989. Having drawn airplanes since he was a young boy with no formal art training, his love of airplanes has enabled him to draw in such detail that one would have to take a second look. With over 50 years drawing military and civil aircraft, Doug has become a true master of his craft.
Military Career
Doug served in the United States Air Force from 1979 to 2017 as a Dedicated Crew Chief on aircraft including the KC-135, KC-10, C-5, and the C-141. This close relationship with aviation has enabled him to draw unbelievably realistic illustrations with unmatchable detail.
A Passion for Aviation
Each drawing is thoroughly researched to ensure historical accuracy with incredible detail often taking up to 500 hours to complete. On a closer look, you will find loving tributes to his family in some of his drawings. Doug is also one of the highest selling aviation artists in the world!!!

The Pearl Harbor National Memorial is located in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on the island of Oahu in the State of Hawai’i. The Pearl Harbor area was designated a national historic landmark in 1964 for its strategic importance related to the United States’ annexation of Hawai’i, and for the December 7, 1941, Japanese attack during World War II.
