Douglas Kinsley created Aviation Illustrations in 1989. Having drawn airplanes since he was a young boy with no formal art training, his love of airplanes has enabled him to draw in such detail that one would have to take a second look. With over 50 years drawing military and civil aircraft, Doug has become a true master of his craft.
Doug served in the United States Air Force from 1979 to 2017 as a Dedicated Crew Chief on aircraft including the KC-135, KC-10, C-5, and the C-141. This close relationship with aviation has enabled him to draw unbelievably realistic illustrations with unmatchable detail.
Each drawing is thoroughly researched to ensure historical accuracy with incredible detail often taking up to 500 hours to complete. On a closer look, you will find loving tributes to his family in some of his drawings.
